This is essentially a period in the middle of the semester where\nthere are no scheduled lectures or seminars \u2013 giving you plenty of free time\nto, well, read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some of my top tips on how to get the most out of\nthis time and the various ways you can use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/insiders\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/523\/2020\/03\/adult-blur-books-close-up-261909-1-1024x731.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10571\" width=\"419\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/insiders\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/523\/2020\/03\/adult-blur-books-close-up-261909-1-1024x731.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/insiders\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/523\/2020\/03\/adult-blur-books-close-up-261909-1-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/insiders\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/523\/2020\/03\/adult-blur-books-close-up-261909-1-768x548.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Catch up on\nreading and get ahead on assignments <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the most obvious thing to do during reading week and\nthe main reason why it is there. Having a week of no planned or structured\nlearning means you can tailor your time to what you need to focus on most.\nPerhaps you have some essential readings you have fallen behind on, or have a\nload of assignments due in a few weeks on the same day. If so, this is the\nperfect time to both catch up and get ahead on your degree. Trust me, you will\nthank yourself for it later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/insiders\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/523\/2020\/03\/arts-build-close-up-commerce-273230-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10577\" width=\"418\" height=\"277\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Create a study\nschedule\/plan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second half of a semester generally tends to be the\nbusier one; that\u2019s why creating a study plan may be an effective use of your\ntime. Go through your diary and note down all the important upcoming academic\ndates and create a list of what needs to be prioritised most. Setting yourself\npersonal deadlines is also something I find helps when I have a lot of work\nimpending. Why not have a clear out and declutter the junk in your room and\nwardrobe.
