As the world continues to change all around us, students have been forced to adapt and navigate the academic world in an entirely new way. Whilst previously, a student\u2019s day would have been filled with in-person lectures, study power hours at the library, and an evening drink at the pub with friends, the reality at present is sadly far from this. Here is what the life of student looks like amidst a global pandemic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zoom Lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After some breakfast, it is straight in with the first zoom meeting of the day at 9am sharp. This type of virtual learning is what continues for most of the day; whether it be for lectures, seminars, or one-to-one meetings with my tutor. It does have its benefits though \u2013 unlimited tea and access to the fridge is not too shabby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In-Person Lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, I am going in 2-3 times a week for in-person learning which is a welcome break from staring at a screen all day. Although wearing a mask, it is nice to actually see my course mates in the flesh and it really breaks up the day. In lectures, everyone is spread at least 2-metres apart, but luckily that is just in range to maintain a conversation with your neighbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daily Exercise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although not every day, I try to get out every so often for a wander around town or Bute park. It is all too easy to use my breaks to swipe away on Twitter, but I really feel the boost in my productivity levels when I get some fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essential Shop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As sad as it might be, I actually enjoy picking up a few bits at my local supermarket as it is the perfect excuse to get out the house once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner with housemates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s another night in for me and the housemate. After a long day of uni work, I cook up a meal and have a good natter. Although, being stuck in doors all the time isn\u2019t ideal, it is nice to be reminded that I am not the only one going through the experience of a new kind of uni life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Video call family and friends<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staying connected to those outside of my bubble is largely what keeps me sane. Whether I chat to my Nan, Dad, 7-year-old cousin, or best friend, it is always nice to have a catch up and vent any inevitable worries that I currently have. Plus, Nan is guaranteed to be equipped with the latest gossip which is always something to look forward to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try to do something non-screen related<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being glued to my laptop all day, I make the time to do something non-screen related. This could include reading a magazine, playing board games with my housemate, or even doing some colouring. In particular, I try to do one of the above just before going to bed as they are great ways to unwind and ensure I get a better night sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
