Where to get your Christmas Shopping Sorted in Cardiff
6 Rhagfyr 2020Now, there is one thing that Cardiff is not short of – shops. The city-centre is every shopaholic’s paradise, and it is even better at Christmas when you are hunting down gifts for all your friends and family. Here are the best places to get Christmas shopping ticked straight off your to-do list.
Christmas Markets
The Christmas markets run every year and are generally open from mid-November to 23 December. If you are wanting to shop local and support independent businesses then this is the place to go. There is whole range of products on sale such as garden decorations, jewellery, bags, ceramics, and art pieces just to name a few.
The sellers also tend to change every so often meaning the market could have a whole different selection of products on offer week to week.
St David’s
Home to the big brands like Disney, H&M, and Debenhams, here you will never run short of gift inspiration. It is open to 8pm Monday to Friday, allowing you to shop late and avoid the mid-day crowds. The centre is always beautifully decorated too and the Christmas tunes will be playing on repeat – what’s not to love?
Arcades
The arcades are a must-visit during the festive seasons as they are pure magic. Decorated with beautiful hanging fairy lights, even if you don’t do any shopping, they will most certainly make it on your Instagram.
However, they are equally a great place to shop for more novelty items and to again, support local, independent businesses. The Makers Arcade is a pop-up in the Morgan Arcade, which first started last year. This sells some beautiful hand-crafted items from local artists which are well worth checking out.
Other arcades have shops from bespoke tailors and delicatessens to art galleries. Plus you can grab your well-deserved mid-shopping beverage at the vast selection of coffee shops hidden in their nook and crannies.
Indie Markets
Travelling a little bit out of the centre, there are a number of indie shops and markets such as The Bone Yard and The Indie Superstore which have retailers selling an assortment of novelty goods. Supporting local is the thing to do this year (and every year) so it is well worth the trip out to see what is on offer.
The Bone Yard is a site full of upcycled shipping containers, each hosting small businesses, makers, and creators. On the last Saturday of each month they also host a special market where everything from plants to jewellery can be found, making the perfect gifts for loved ones.
Charity Shops
Of course, charity shops are always great options for getting your shopping sorted. Not only is it reducing waste, but you know you will be getting quality items for cheap prices, which all go towards an even better cause.
Charity shops can be found all around Cardiff, so take a stroll and see what you can find in your local area.
