{"id":75,"date":"2024-12-20T08:34:32","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T08:34:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/housing-law-wales\/?p=75"},"modified":"2024-12-20T08:34:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T08:34:32","slug":"rents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/housing-law-wales\/rents\/","title":{"rendered":"Rents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is just a short post to draw attention to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ons.gov.uk\/economy\/inflationandpriceindices\/bulletins\/privaterentandhousepricesuk\/december2024\">Office for National Statistics most recent bulletin on rents and house prices<\/a>.\u00a0 The average rent in GB was 9.1% higher than 12 months previously.\u00a0 That is significant because of the effect on interest rates more generally.\u00a0 It is a sorry tale of housing market failure.\u00a0 The situation in Wales is as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Average rent for Wales was \u00a3772 in November 2024, up 8.0% (\u00a357) from a year earlier. This annual rise was higher than in the 12 months to October 2024 (7.9%).
