Homelessness and Social Housing Allocation Bill – Resources
15 August 2025In this post, I am taking a slightly lazy approach* of pulling together a range of resources which I have found on the Bill (* partly because, as I have found, moving home is a process not an event, and I’m off on holiday next week [so no new post until the second week of September]) and which might make for interesting and different holiday reading/watching.
First up, Mark Prichard got in touch to let me know that he has put together the Housing (Wales) Act as amended by the Bill. For those of us who have had to keep multiple screens open while considering the Bill, this is an amazing service. As Mark says, the Bill will be updated and it is not the final version; but, what it does demonstrate is the ambition of the Bill. This is a major piece of work.
Secondly, some of you will have attended the Landmark Chambers online seminar on the Bill, in which Mark participated. If you didn’t, it is worth watching (if for no other reason than Justin Bates’ surprise at the number of people who signed up for it), and the slides are here.
Thirdly, Mike Norman has provided a summary of the key points in the Bill and, as always with Mike’s work, this will be required reading (not least because, I think, he and I have slightly different views about some of it).
Fourthly, the Summer issue of the always excellent Welsh Housing Quarterly devotes much of its issue to the Bill.
Fifthly, there are a range of other commentaries appearing on the Bill – for example, Victoria Searle at Browne Jacobson (solicitors) has written a piece.
That’s it, I’m afraid, until the second week of September. Have a lovely break if you’re having one.
