Building Safety

20 March 2026

I don’t tend to write about the building safety provisions, partly because they are so complicated and require different types of expertise beyond housing law and policy (or perhaps I have overly narrowly thought about that), but it is right to acknowledge the enormous amount of work which has gone into the passing of the Building Safety (Wales) Bill by everybody concerned.  Whether it does mark a ‘huge step forward” for fire safety in Wales or whether it doesn’t quite balance the issues (see this piece by friend-of-the-blog Jennie Bibbings), one cannot doubt either the motivation or the complexity of the work involved.  There may be quite a bit of work for the Residential Property Tribunal flowing from this legislation.
