{"id":93,"date":"2023-10-16T09:41:16","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T08:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/history-at-cardiff\/?p=93"},"modified":"2023-10-27T13:16:16","modified_gmt":"2023-10-27T12:16:16","slug":"hap24-comes-to-cardiff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/history-at-cardiff\/hap24-comes-to-cardiff\/","title":{"rendered":"HAP24 comes to Cardiff"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"post-95 media-95\" class=\"image align-right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/history-at-cardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/632\/2023\/10\/HAP24.jpg\" alt=\"HAP24 details\" width=\"383\" height=\"213\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>In partnership with <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The National Archives<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/royalhistsoc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Historical Soc<\/a><a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/royalhistsoc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iety<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.ac.uk\/\">Institute of Historical Research<\/a>, Cardiff History and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/special-collections\">Cardiff University Special Collections and Archives<\/a> will be hosting\u00a0 \u2018<strong>History and Archives in Practice<\/strong>\u2019 in March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>History and Archives in Practice (HAP) is an annual event, building on its partners\u2019 long experience of bringing archivists and historians into close conversation. The first event \u2018HAP23\u2019 was hosted in March at the Institute of Historical Research exploring the theme \u2018Collecting Communities: working together and with collections\u2019. You can find out more and watch videos from the event via the following link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.ac.uk\/whats\/ihr-events-archive\/hap23\">History and Archives in Practice, \u00a02023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>HAP24 will see Cardiff University host the event, and collaborate with our partners in the planning and organisation of the day, showcasing our collections and the breadth of innovative and exciting research that is being undertaken across the institution and Wales itself.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for HAP24 will be <strong>\u2018Historical Legacies: collecting history, historical collections and community voices<\/strong>\u2019. \u2018HAP24: Historical Legacies\u2019 looks to the future (through the past) to discuss the impact of legacies past, present, and future. The event provides opportunities to reflect on the durability of legacies (historical, physical, digital), the democratisation of history, and our collective responsibility in working with communities to ensure that our collections and our practices are rooted in co-creation and collaboration.\u00a0 With co-creation and collaboration in mind, we now invite proposals for \u2018History and Archives in Practice, 2024\u2019 on this theme.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.co.uk\/r\/HAP24-CfP\">submissions<\/a> from historians, archivists, and heritage organisations alike.
