The National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) Grants and Awards
20 February 2015The NIAA provides opportunity to apply for small grants and awards that can provide financial help with academic pursuits during training. Released annually, these awards are granted for education and research purposes and some are specifically directed towards trainees.
In late 2014 I was awarded the Payne Stafford Tan award via the NIAA and this funded attendance at Sepsis 2014, an international symposium held by the International Sepsis Forum. In its eighth consecutive year, this is the largest conference dedicated to sepsis and attracts prestigious speakers of international standing. Sepsis 2014 was an engaging, informative and thought provoking look at sepsis from both clinical and scientific standpoint and I would highly recommend future symposiums to colleagues with research or clinical interests in this field.
