Mothers of Africa meets Kickboxing
23 June 2014On the 3rd May 2014 the members of Cardiff University Kickboxing Club held a charity tournament. Members competed against each other at Talybont sports centre. People came to watch, sponsorship was given and the Kickboxing Club raised well over £700 for the charity Mothers of Africa! The event was organised by club members including our own Mothers of Africa volunteer Kieron Tarrant. Kieron, an undergraduate in the School of Engineering, is coming on September’s trip to Chongwe Zambia, when our Engineers are extending our solar power in the village of Shiyala, Chongwe. Let’s face it, we don’t want the health-post lights going out in the rainy season.
Mothers of Africa is a tiny charity, but by concentrating our effort and funding on special high impact projects then I really think we can punch above our weight. The photographs are brilliant and everyone supporting Mothers of Africa is really very grateful for all the punching and kicking that went on: the club raised a lot of money for our Shiyala Village project in Zambia.
Well done and thanks.
