“What am I going to do after Graduation?”
6 July 2015At the beginning of our final year Graduation seemed a distant event in the future. All of a sudden in a few weeks’ time you will be fully cloaked and ready to celebrate one of your biggest achievements. It’s scary how time flies!
However, amongst the table booking and outfit decisions many of you will also be thinking, what am I going to do after Graduation?
For those lucky few that have plans – congratulations! But for some, like myself, the immediate future is still a blank canvas. Hopefully, these few tips will help you to get the ball rolling after Graduation
1. Travel/Holiday – Let’s start off with an easy one! Allowing yourself sometime away from the stresses of your final year is important. I’m not suggesting that everyone needs to go on a yearlong holiday but taking some time out to distress is as important as searching for that next opportunity!

2. Setting up a LinkedIn profile – Many of us didn’t have the time during essays and exams to take a look at our CV, let alone setup a LinkedIn profile. However, it’s really important to make this a top priority. More and more employers are looking to this – your online presence is just as important as your physical CV.
3. Careers and Employability Service – Just because you are now a graduate does not mean that there are not resources that you can still use here at Cardiff University. Check out the Careers and Employability website for lots of information about careers, CV’s and much more. You can also drop into the team at 50 Park Place (top floor of Student Support Centre), Cardiff, CF10 3AT.
These are just a few small tips to help you gather your thoughts and take small steps after Graduation. I hope they are helpful!
