Cardiff’s Attractions

7 July 2015

For many students graduation will be a time when their families can celebrate their success and enjoy the wonderful Cardiff. If like me your family are staying for a few days you will be wondering what kind of things you can do to entertain everyone!

Showing your family around the place that you have lived for so many years doesn’t have to be difficult. There are so many places in and around Cardiff.

Here are just a few:

1. Cardiff Museum – I have to say this is one of my favourite places in Cardiff! Both a museum and art gallery it caters for a large audience, both young and old. Currently there are many different exhibitions including – ‘Fragile’ (the largest contemporary ceramics exhibition in Wales), and the ‘Chalkie Davies: the NME years’ exhibition.

Cost – Free

2. Cardiff Castle – A Welsh heritage attraction the castle is beautifully set in the centre of Cardiff. With over 2,000 years of rich and fascinating history an afternoon will be well spent at the castle. There is opportunity to go on specialist tours around the castle and house also. Fingers crossed for sunny days next week!

Cost – Ticket prices vary

3. Doctor Who Experience – This can be great for all the family, not just for those that love Doctor Who! I would recommend the interactive experience, allowing you to go into the Tardis! What’s not to loves? Located in Cardiff Bay – you could make a day out of your visit and explore the Bay too!

Cost – Ticket prices vary

4. Bute Park – We are very lucky here in Cardiff to have such extensive and beautiful park right on our doorsteps. Bute Park offers the whole family a place to enjoy the sunshine and Welsh nature. There are self led trails that you can ramble down – you can pick up maps of these trails in the Bute Park Education Centre. At Bute Park you can all become explorers for the day!

Cost – Free

5. St.Davids Shopping Centre – For some of you that would rather take advantage of the shops in the capital city, St.Davids is for you! There are a variety of different shops and restaurants that cater to different tastes. Even if some of your family are uninterested in the shops there is still something for them in St.Davids. Including the recent Treetop Adventure Golf!

Cost – At your own discretion…

I hope that some of these options are useful to you and your family! I know that I will be doing all of the above!

Thanks for reading.
