I was pleased that Cardiff allowed me to transfer credits from UCD, meaning that I\u2019ll still be able to graduate with my friends next year.<\/p>\n<p>During my time at UCD, I met people from across the world (from literally every continent!), and I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to experience living in a different country. I also enjoyed exploring Ireland and experiencing Irish culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What surprised you the most about your host country\/programme\/time abroad?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I was pleasantly surprised by how different Irish and UK cultures are. Despite sharing an open border with the UK, Ireland has a really unique feel and I loved exploring local towns and cities during my time at UCD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the one thing you miss about your time abroad?<\/strong><br \/>\nI miss living in a different country with a large cohort of people from across the world. I loved the community feel on the UCD campus, and the university was brilliant at organising a whole host of events for incoming international students, which made it really easy to get to know people.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Guinness definitely tastes different (better!) in Ireland \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s something you\u2019re passionate about outside of your studies?<br \/>\n<\/strong>I love cooking and baking &#8211; my go-to bake is either cookies or millionaire\u2019s shortbread!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s your favourite place on campus\/in Cardiff?<\/strong><br \/>\nRoath Park, Pontcanna Market, and Alexandra Gardens<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you could live anywhere in the world for a year (a dream destination), where would it be\u2014and why?<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019d choose Canada &#8211; I\u2019ve never been, but I\u2019d love to experience both a summer and a winter season in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s a fun fact most people don\u2019t know about you?<\/strong><br \/>\nI am profoundly deaf, I failed my hearing tests at birth so I was implanted with Cochlear Implants which nearly replace traditional hearing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe your global experience in three words:<\/strong><br \/>\nInsightful, fun, immersive<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to students considering a global opportunity?<\/strong><br \/>\nGo for it!
