What motivated you to take up a year abroad in Cardiff?<\/span><\/h4>\n

I was motivated to take up a semester abroad in Cardiff because of the interesting way in which ENCAP [School of English Communication and Philosophy] was set up. Specifically, as the School consists of both the English and Philosophy department, I was able to take on a module that is centred on aesthetics while taking on other English modules which helped to fulfil my degree requirements.<\/p>\n

What are your highlights from your time in Cardiff?<\/h4>\n

I had thoroughly enjoyed the University’s library collections, especially the collection at the Architecture Library. In addition, I have also found the GIAG trips to be so eye-opening! Coming from a city state, I have found the trip to Rhossili Coast to be exceptionally breath-taking.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about the learning and teaching environment at Cardiff University?<\/h4>\n

I had found it enjoyable to learn at Cardiff University, in part because of the extensive breadth of each module. Moreover, it is also evident that my lecturers have put in tremendous care and effort in preparing for their lessons, and in sending us information prior to each class, have also allowed students to prepare in advance.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about student life on campus, including the Student’s Union? Have you got involved in any clubs or societies?<\/h4>\n

I had found student life on campus to be vibrant! I took part in the Table Tennis Club, and had the chance to travel with the team to Bristol for the university’s Derby Day. I am grateful that the team has been so welcoming, although I would only be here for one semester.<\/p>\n

What is the one thing you wish you\u2019d known before you left?<\/h4>\n

In retrospect, I would conduct more research on the local transport systems prior to my exchange programme (i.e. within Cardiff, within Wales, as well as to other parts of the UK), so that I could consider in advance how I could explore more places on my own in a cost-efficient manner.<\/p>\n

What would you say to students who are unsure about coming to study at Cardiff University?<\/h4>\n

I would encourage them to take a leap of faith. During my time here, both the city and the University have been extremely welcoming, and it has been easy to find my rhythm here. The school also provides robust resources to support learning and opportunities to see more of the UK, which collectively help to make the exchange programme simply enjoyable.<\/p>\n

What can you tell us about being in Wales and the Welsh culture?<\/h4>\n

I found it easy to be in Wales, and the Welsh culture to be extremely welcoming! In particular, I found that being in Cardiff allowed me to have the best of both worlds – a bit of city living and the convenience that comes with it, but also an abundance of greenery.<\/p>\n
