What motivated you to take up a year\/semester abroad in Cardiff?<\/h4>\n

I chose Cardiff so that I could learn Welsh but still do the majority of my studies in English. I really liked the fact that I could study at a city campus in a capital city that didn’t cost too much and was well connected with the rest of the country. I have since found that it is also beautiful, perfect to explore and very friendly as well.<\/p>\n

What is the one thing you wish you\u2019d known before you left?<\/h4>\n

Book extra baggage for the journey home, you have no idea how much stuff you are going to buy, trust me. Making friends is also much easier that you might expect in Cardiff.<\/p>\n

What are your highlights from your time in Cardiff so far?<\/h4>\n

The people at the churches are beautiful. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. Exploring the city is also a real treat. There are many arcades to explore, it’s fun to get lost. I really enjoyed the winter wonderland and Castle too.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about student life on campus, including the Student’s Union? Have you got involved in any clubs or societies?<\/h4>\n

There are sooo many events at the SU and heaps of societies. It’s a little overwhelming. You kind of have to pick a niche and invest. I chose the Christian Union. I have gone to several big events and even went on their weekend away which was loads of fun. The SU itself is also great. I felt well supported as a student.<\/p>\n

What would you say to students who are unsure about coming to study at Cardiff University?<\/h4>\n

It is much better than you imagine. It’s not big enough that you get lost and feel unimportant but not small and so you won’t miss out on anything. It’s a place that will easily make you feel at home which makes it easy to make the most of it and explore. The teaching is high quality and I’m so grateful for everything I have learned here.<\/p>\n

What can you tell us about being in Wales and the Welsh culture?<\/h4>\n

The weather is just like I was told it would be but it still takes a bit of getting used to. The Welsh and British culture is pretty similar to Australian culture, so the differences are subtle and often catch you by surprise. I’m still not used to “Alright?” as a greeting. Everything is also less chill than I’m used to but eventually you stop noticing so much. You have to remember that you are an exchange student and you don’t have to take everything apocalyptically seriously.<\/p>\n

Can you sum up your experience in one sentence?<\/h4>\n

I’m grateful for the amazing friends I have made and network I have built in a far off land, where I’m learning valuable skills both academically and personally, that will ultimately help shape me into the person God has made me to be.<\/p>\n
