When it comes to the environment, I have to say that when I first arrived in Spain, I noticed that things were well maintained and taken care of. During my time in Málaga throughout Semana Santa, I couldn’t help but notice that every night, after the parades were finished, the streets were thoroughly cleaned… the city was spotless! In fact, most of the areas of Spain were like this, I was impressed with how well the people looked after their surroundings. Another thing that I noticed when I first arrived was the difference between the landscapes we get in Spain compared to those that we see here in the UK. Just little things stood out to me when I first arrived, like the view from the plane window as we were landing or from the train as it went the scenic route; I’m so used to seeing green grassy fields back at home, but in Spain, the landscapes were made up of oranges and browns. It’s just a case of getting used to the environment that you’re in!

The weather in Ciudad Real was nothing like I expected it to be! We had maybe in total around 20 beautifully sunny days- the kind of weather I was convinced we’d have all the time! Even the locals said that this year was a strange year for weather. We had mainly cloudy days with a few thunderstorms. I didn’t mind it so much in the end though as I kind of reminded me of home!
