LAWPL, Law, Year 4

Your experience abroad

Tell us about your global opportunity—where did you go, and what did you do?
I went to Madrid to study Law at Comillas University. I was able to study a wide variety of really interesting modules.

What surprised you the most about your host country/programme/time abroad?
How quickly it felt like home. Once I started to make friends and become familiar with the city, it felt amazing to actually be there.

What is the one thing you miss about your time abroad?
Everything. Making friends with people from all across the world and experiencing a new city together was such an enriching experience. Madrid was just the absolute best city I have ever been to and it is incredible to have had the chance to live there. The food is amazing, weather is unbelievable year-round, and there is so many cool activities to do whilst you are there – you will never be bored.

A bit about you!

What’s something you’re passionate about outside of your studies?
I love to play a variety of sports such as football and tennis. I also love to watch movies, read a lot of fiction, and try new food.

What’s your favourite place on campus/in Cardiff?
I’d probably say Roath Park.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year (a dream destination), where would it be—and why?
Aside from Madrid (because I would definitely live there again if given the chance), I would have to say Japan because of how amazing I have heard it is.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

I skydived at 16 and would love to get my licence for it one day.

Reflections and Advice

Describe your global experience in three words
Impactful, Enriching, Euphoric

What advice would you give to students considering a global opportunity?
Take the opportunity even if it may feel daunting at first. You will never forget your time abroad and you will make so many lifelong friends with people from all over. Have no regrets and try to do things outside of your comfort zone.
