Tell us about your global opportunity—where did you go, and what did you do?
A Year Abroad at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, studying law

What surprised you the most about your host country/programme/time abroad?
How quickly Prague became my second home. After a couple of weeks I felt right at home. The city will always hold a special place in my heart. Definitely the best year of my life.

What is the one thing you miss about your time abroad?
The friends I made. Everyone- students, staff and people I met along the way were all friendly and kind. There is something really special about having friends from all across the world and speaking about your different experiences growing up, learning who you are, and where you want to be in life. I particularly miss meeting up with everyone in a bar called Azra where we all spent our first and last night in the city.

What’s something you’re passionate about outside of your studies?
Reading. You can’t beat a good book 🙂

What’s your favourite place on campus/in Cardiff?
The CSL- in particular the top floor and the view at sunset

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year (a dream destination), where would it be—and why?
I really couldn’t choose! My dream would be to throw a dart at a map and live in the country it lands on! I think would be great to explore somewhere new, particularly a country I may not have thought of adventuring to before!

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
I can communicate in BSL (British Sign Language)- I’m not perfect at it but I’m alright!

What advice would you give to students considering a global opportunity?
Go! Do it! It will truly be the best time of your life. You will have experiences that will completely change your perspective on life and have boat loads of fun! You will make friends for life from all over the world (very handy for when you want to go travelling- nothing beats a tour from a local). It may seem scary but it is worth the leap!
