Reflections on the research funding landscape

There isn’t really much to be added to this overview, but this article on The Conversation provides a neat summary of where we are in terms of funding science in the UK.

In short, Government have been keen to retain peer review for research, but after some re-jigs and re-prioritisation, some more directed investments and falling real value of constant budgets, does seem to leave us in a potentially precarious position.

With the upcoming election, who will take research most seriously?
