Last year I helped to set up the Festivals Research Group<\/a> in the Creative Cardiff Research Network. This led to a collaboration with S\u0175n Music Festival last autumn.<\/p>\n

A report<\/a> on this project was recently launched in the School of Geography and Planning (as one of its Impact & Engagement events). The report, entitled ‘A Spotlight on S\u0175n Music Festival 2016’, was the culmination of the group’s pilot project with S\u0175n Festival. It includes a whole range of contributions reporting on case studies on the performer’s journey, a research survey, and interviews of festivalgoers. It also provides information about the S\u0175n Music Museum, a collaboration between the festival and the research group, with help from StoryworksUK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The launch event<\/a> included presentations from the researchers in the group, as well as contributions from Professor Max Munday (Business School), Sarah Evans in the Engagement team, John Rostron (founder of S\u0175n), Jon Drape (Director of Festival No. 6), Steve Muggeridge (Director of Green Gathering) and Gwilym Evans (Head of the Major Events Unit, Welsh Government).<\/p>\n

The group is keen to hear from potential industry partners and from researchers across the University, especially if they think that their work could connect with the festival theme.<\/p>\n
