Jade Jones

Jade Jones is a postgraduate researcher at Cardiff University. Alongside the Student Steering Committee Jade leads and administers Student CELP. Jade’s doctoral thesis is focused on the development of a legally binding marine protected areas (MPAs) in the Arctic high seas. Research interests include Polar Law, Law of the Sea and Indigenous Peoples Rights. Jade is a member of the Centre of Environmental Law and Policy, a student fellow at the Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus Centre and has written blog posts for Take Five – The Arctic Institute’s news roundup.

Abby Ho is a first-year LLB Law student. Abby’s interests include commercial environmental law, specifically delving into greenwashing and animal welfare.

Nada is a first year LLB Law student. Nada’s current legal interests include environmental law impacting animal welfare, environmental technology and family law. Nada is keen to develop her knowledge of environmental law through collaborative research with fellow CELP members.

Nikolaos Margaritis is a final year LLB Law Student. Nikolaos’ main areas of interest include Corporate and Environmental law, particularly the potential nexus between the two, and Criminal Justice Reform. Nikolaos is currently an editor with the Cardiff Law Review and a student-partner with Ohmidaze Productions under the auspices of ‘The Arts Partnership’. Nikolaos is also active on X.

Olivia Thomas is a third year Law and Politics joint honors student at Cardiff University. Olivia hopes to pursue a career related to Environmental Law or Politics. Olivia has previously participated in the Cardiff University Environmental Law Foundation probono scheme with Guy Linley-Adams. Olivia’s research interests are primarily focused on climate justice and government responses to climate change.

Vishnusri Palanisamy Sumithra Lakshmi is a second year law and politics student. Vishnusri’s current legal interests include business and commercial law, environmental law and technology law.

William Rowlands

Will Rowlands is a third year LLB Law student who has elected to study Environmental and Human Rights Law. Will is an aspiring barrister and hopes to specialize in Environmental Law after completing his Bar Training Course at Cardiff next year. He has been involved in numerous areas of Environmental Law already, such as representing Cardiff University in the DLA Piper Sustainability Moot, tackling issues involving sustainable coffee bean farming in Ethiopia, something that he wishes to research further during his time with the Student CELP. Over his next two years at Cardiff Will hopes to develop Student CELP into a leading platform for student-led legal and policy research.
