To fulfill the objectives of UKRI/DESZN/InnovateUK/HORIZON funding opportunities, our Centre of Excellence will extend beyond academic pursuits and incorporate business and essential stakeholders, responding to burgeoning sector opportunities where the UK and Europe can establish a strategic edge. It’s imperative to enhance our current research-driven collaborations spanning academia, business, policymakers, and the third sector, as well as engage in market development endeavors, hence addressing industry-informed challenges, and fostering technology transfer and knowledge exchange among all parties involved.

Our focus should be on market creation activities that leverage the needs and capabilities of South Wales, align with policy and standards, and meet the investment criteria of private financiers. Embracing a transdisciplinary approach, we aim to collaborate across disciplinary and sectoral lines, adopting a solutions-oriented method to seize these opportunities.

We are committed to partnering with companies and small and medium Enterprises (SMEs) to innovate new products, services, and business models grounded in fundamental research and development activities. This partnership is crucial for advancing these innovations to higher technology readiness levels (TRLs), which includes the development of prototypes and operational demonstrators.
