{"id":507,"date":"2019-07-16T18:03:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T18:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/carer\/?p=507"},"modified":"2019-07-16T18:03:46","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T18:03:46","slug":"living-in-bangor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/carer\/living-in-bangor\/","title":{"rendered":"Living in Bangor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Living in Bangor has been a very different experience to living in Cardiff, but definitely just as good!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangor is a much much smaller city than Cardiff, which does take some getting used to. However it has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, as well as the beauty of Snowdonia and Anglesey right next door, which makes it a really lovely place to live!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to moving up to Bangor I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Therefore, after 10 months of living here, I thought I would put together a very informal &#8216;Guide to Bangor&#8217;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Sightseeing<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are plenty of beautiful things to do and see in Bangor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangor Cathedral is incredibly huge and incredibly old (dating back to the 6th century, according to Wikipedia!). Clothes shops include New Look, Topshop and H&amp;M, and there&#8217;s a Boots, Debenhams, Body Shop and pretty much everything else you could need! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also plenty of charity shops if like me you prefer buying your clothes second hand! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/carer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/555\/2019\/07\/IMG_0346-e1563299735689-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/carer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/555\/2019\/07\/IMG_0346-e1563299735689-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/carer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/555\/2019\/07\/IMG_0346-e1563299735689-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are lots of other shops in the Industrial Estate on Caernarfon Road, including NEXT, B&amp;Q, The Ranch and Sports Direct!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you need a supermarket then you are covered in Bangor, with an Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and an M&amp;S!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Eating Out<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there is one thing Bangor is lacking in it is good restaurants. However there is a good Indian, a nice Italian and plenty of pubs, and some really good eating out options if you take a drive to Menai Bridge, Caernarfon or Felinheli!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are plenty of takeaway places in Bangor however! Our all time favourite is &#8216;Happy House&#8217; which does the best Chinese food! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Nightlife<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best (and only!) place to go out in Bangor is the Cube nightclub.
