Cardiff Award

Meet Elin Arfon, shortlisted for Cardiff Award Student of the Year 2018

Elin is 1 of 8 students shortlisted for Cardiff Award Student of the Year.

Elin, who studies Welsh and French, used the Award to develop her confidence. She really made the most out of opportunities and demonstrated great development within her portfolio. Activities she undertook during her time on the programme included being a Student Language Ambassador, a tutor, a Language Assistant and she also did work experience in Patagonia. She has now been offered funding for a PhD here at Cardiff University.

What have you enjoyed most about the Cardiff Award?

Attending the employability workshops and learning about different techniques. I also found it very useful to have the chance to apply these techniques to a mock interview provided by the Cardiff Award.

Do you have any tips for student’s currently participating in the Award?

Although not necessary, I would complete the self-reflection for each extra-curricular activity. It’s a great way to reflect on your own skillset and consider the aspects that you need to improve.

What would you say to students thinking about signing up to the Cardiff Award?

Do it – it’s great for career development….and it’s free!
