Watching some TV on campus…

Cardiff University has a TV licence that covers any institutional use of iPlayer for both staff and students, so students usintvg iPlayer in an IT suite or lecture hall will be covered.

This does not include accommodation, or refectory spaces – in these situations students will need a TV licence, unless they a) have a laptop/device running solely on battery power and b) their parents have a TV licence.

This does not affect services such as Box of Broadcasts, 4OD and ITV Player – these can still be watched without a TV licence.

Don’t forget Cardiff University staff have access to Box of Broadcasts which enables you to create clips of programmes which have been broadcast.

You do need to sign up for an account, but its quick and easy to do.
