Pilot Service: Book a PC @ Health Library
20 February 2020
If you’ve ever felt the frustration of needing to use a computer, but every single one is occupied in the library, you’ll be interested in a new pilot service being trialled.
Responding to user demand for guaranteed computer availability, we are piloting a PC Booking system on about 40 Cardiff University computers at the Health Library.
You can book a guaranteed slot on one of these PCs – for up to 2 hours and extend the time for another 60 minutes, if no-one has reserved that computer. You can book from the webpage at https://bookapc.cardiff.ac.uk/cire when you’re on a university computer or connected to a university wifi network on your phone/laptop.
Make sure you enter the address exactly as https://bookapc.cardiff.ac.uk/cire or you’ll see this screen

The PCs you can book have a large plastic number on them, so you know which PC you’ve been assigned.

You can pick the floor of the Health Library you want to book the PC on, and then you’ll receive an email letting you know which computer has been reserved for you.
If you run into any problems, please speak to the staff at the Enquiry Desk in the Health Library – or phone/email them on 029 2068 8137 / healthlibrary@cardiff.ac.uk
The pilot will be running for three months, so your feedback on this system will be key to helping decide whether this is rolled out.
