What is your name and job title?
Isabel Heal, Assistant Library Operations Manager
What are your subject area interests?
Ensuring the Health library is manned in the evenings, and assisting the Library Operations Manager.
Where did you live as a child?
Cardiff born and bred, although I know live out in the country.
What do you like best about Cardiff?
The fantastic diverse range of shops and restaurants, which I enjoy visiting with my family.
What did you do before you worked here?
My first job after returning to work after bringing up my children was at the central public library in Cardiff, then the Herbert Duthie Library. I then transferred to the SONMS library at Caerleon, then back to the Health Library.
What was the first library book you remember reading for pleasure?
Beatrix Potter’s – Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggy Winkle.
What do you enjoy reading now? Hard copy or electronic?
Last book I read was, Chocolat By Joanne Michele Harris. I still prefer to read a paper copy.
Give an instance of one of your most interesting queries.
The SONMS Nursing library in Caerleon was in the grounds of St Cadoc’s Hospital ,which had it’s owm medical library located there. We had a lot of interest one summer from students asking if they could return their books to St Cadoc’s medical library, we then found out that the BBC had been filming a number of episodes for the Doctor Who series in the building.
What do you like best about Cardiff Uni Health Library Service?
The fact that the Health library is open 24hours,- this is something the students greatly appreciate.
