Decommissioning of the CU wifi network- Make the move to Eduroam ASAP
19 June 2013Next month, the ‘CU-WiFi’ wireless service will be decommissioned. Our preferred service, eduroam, is a secure, encrypted wireless service. Further information and a firm date of when CU-WiFi will be turned off will be provided shortly.
Note that staff and students with an Internet connection (e.g. at home) can set up their laptops (not other mobile devices) automatically for Eduroam via http://cardiff.ac.uk/wirelessreg
For further details on wireless services, see http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/insrv/it/network/wireless/
Why is it being done?
CU-WiFi is not only an insecure network but is also known to adversely affect the performance of the eduroam wireless service. By turning off CU-WiFi, eduroam performance should be improved across campus
