We recently took a subscription to BMJ Best Practice – Access it via the Library to ensure you have off campus access (rather than searching for it via Google) or here http://abc.cardiff.ac.uk/login?url=http://bestpractice.bmj.com

Add the app to your mobile device for convenience and additional features. To download the app you first need to create an account on the BMJ Best Practice website. You will need to use this login to download the app.

BMJ Best Practice is a point of care tool which aims to assist health professionals in making decisions about treatment and diagnosis. It uses an evidence based, patient focused approach. BMJ Best Practice links out to PubMed records so you can access the full text where Cardiff University has access and information about drugs and dosages are linked via the BNF. (You can also download the BNF app freely – please see separate post here http://blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/blslibraries/2017/10/24/new-improved-bnf-bnfc-app/

BMJ Best Practice can be used to:

  • Get a second opinion about prevention, diagnosis, treatment or prognosis
  • Identify UK or international guidelines
  • Identify evidence-based synopses
  • Develop professionally – notes and links can be saved to a personal portfolio
  • Identify images to be used for educational purposes
  • There are also links to national and international guidelines and patient information leaflets.
