Drosophila Genetic Techniques Symposium
The fly research groups at Cardiff University are organising a half-day symposium to showcase classical and cutting-edge genetic techniques used in Drosophila!
The program compromises of two main elements:
• First twelve master and PhD students from the School of Biosciences and the Dementia Research Institute will each be presenting a technique and its most exciting application in 15 minute slots.
• Then to conclude the symposium, guest speaker Dr. Fillip Port from the Division of Signaling and Functional Genomics at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) (Heidelberg, Germany) will give a plenary about the development and application of CRISPR/Cas techniques. Dr. Port has been instrumental in developing this technique in Drosophila. His lab group actively engage about their topic and are also active on Twitter at https://twitter.com/crisprflydesign
The Symposium will take place:
April 2nd, 2019
9am – 2pm
6th Floor Seminar Room, the Sir Martin Evans Building
(Lunch and Coffee will be provided)
Come along if you want to learn more about the wealth of tools available in this model system!
Hoping to see you there, we wish you all good day,
Bilal, Daniel and Katia
