NEWS: All Staff Away Day event – Principality stadium – Monday 12th December 2016

All Staff Away Day event – Principality stadium – Monday 12th December 2016

For the second year running the upcoming All Staff Away Day is being held in the Principality Stadium (formerly known as the Millennium Stadium), ALL research staff are encouraged to attend. This very much includes all members of the Research Staff group – i.e. all Biosciences Research Associates (post-docs), Research Assistants, Research Scientists, and Early Career Fellows.

The focus of this Away Day will largely be on staff-related issues and, as such, it is relevant to all colleagues and everyone “should feel comfortable and able to contribute“.

One of the key goals of the day is to engage more closely with as many staff of all levels as possible, to continue fostering closer working relationships across the school. It is hoped that all colleagues who were planning to be in work or in/near Cardiff on Monday 12th December will attend.

At the conclusion of the Away Day there will be a drinks reception and a “ Recognition and Celebration Event” with a three course meal with wine/ beer, plus drink tokens and a DJ/ disco. The evening element of this Away Day event replaces the former BIOSI Christmas Party as well as being an opportunity to recognise staff performance and excellence.

Everyone is encouraged to confirm their participation in this event and cast their vote NO LATER THAN THE 28th NOVEMBER to elect the winner at: https://cardiff.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/bioscience-award-vote-christmas“.
Please note that all responses are required no later than Monday 28th November as we have to confirm numbers to the Principality stadium.

The 3-word photo contest

To celebrate research, teaching and our community in Biosciences we are running a photography competition, with the top entries judged at the school All Staff Away Day on Monday 12th December 2016.

We will be using these images to decorate areas around the school, and prizes for first, second and third places will be awarded.

Close up of photographer Sarah LeeThis autumn the theme is ‘Snapshots of BIOSI‘ and along with your photo we invite you to submit 3 words describing your image. All photographs that capture research, education, the physical spaces or interactions inside or outside the school are eligible and we hope that you will show what you think is special about BIOSI.

All entries that were submitted when the photo competition was originally launched in July will be carried over.

Please send your entries to BIOSIfinance@cardiff.ac.uk by Thursday 1st December, 2016 including:

1. A high resolution image file (saved as ‘Your_Name’),
2. A completed entry form with the image embedded and including your 3 words (saved as ‘PP_Your_Name’) – the entry form can be obtain from Dr Amy Baldwin, baldwinAJ@cardiff.ac.uk.

There is a maximum of 3 entries per person.
