It now houses a&nbsp;spinning disc confocal system for &nbsp;fast, live cell&nbsp;imaging applications. The system is based around an Olympus IX71 inverted microscope, kindly provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.ac.uk\/people\/view\/81308-watson-peter\">Dr Pete Watson<\/a>, which has been upgraded, via <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/what-we-do\/our-work\/institutional-strategic-support-fund\">ISSF funding<\/a>, with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crestopt.com\/html\/x-light_v2_tp.html\">Crest Optics X-Light V2 confocal head<\/a>, a Cairn Research tri-line laser bank (405nm, 488nm, 561nm) and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hamamatsu.com\/eu\/en\/community\/life_science_camera\/product\/search\/C11440-22CU\/index.html\">Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4 sCMOS digital camera<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hamamatsu.com\/jp\/en\/A12801-01.html\">M-View Gemini image splitter<\/a>. &nbsp;The system is fully integrated via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moleculardevices.com\/systems\/metamorph-research-imaging\/metamorph-microscopy-automation-and-image-analysis-software\">Molecular Devices MetaMorph software<\/a> and boasts a 40&#8243; 4k display.&nbsp;&nbsp;The system will expand the Hub&#8217;s imaging toolbox, enabling high speed, multi-position, multi-colour 3D\/4D image acquisition. Support systems for live cell imaging (i.e. gas and incubation) are also available within the facility.
