{"id":1625,"date":"2017-02-14T09:55:28","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T09:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/alumni\/?p=1625"},"modified":"2022-04-13T16:14:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T16:14:26","slug":"cardiff-university-i-will-forever-be-in-your-debt-for-helping-me-find-my-best-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cardiff.ac.uk\/alumni\/2017\/02\/14\/cardiff-university-i-will-forever-be-in-your-debt-for-helping-me-find-my-best-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardiff University \u2013 I will forever be in your debt for helping me find my best friend."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\"><strong>Craig <\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(LLB 2005)<\/span> <strong>and Becky <\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">(BSc 2005)<\/span> <strong>met during a \u2018sexy Santa\u2019 netball match in their final year at Cardiff University, and are now expecting their first child<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">To this day, my wife Becky claims we met in the Talybont Social bar during our first year at Cardiff University. Allegedly, this was at a hypnotist\u2019s show \u2013 and I\u2019m ashamed to say I have no recollection!<\/p>\n<p>I remember meeting Becky on a cold December day in 2004, during a \u2018sexy Santa\u2019 netball match. We happened to be marking each other, which seemed to have been conveniently arranged by our friends.\u00a0 Soon after, we had our first date \u2013 a picnic in the castle grounds \u2013 and became official amidst our finals in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>We share very fond memories of nights out in Clwb Ifor Bach, Moloko\u2019s, and the obligatory Wednesday sport\u2019s night at the student\u2019s union. The final medley of \u2018summer of \u201869\u2019, \u2018Come on Eileen\u2019, and \u2018Mr. Brightside\u2019 were a particular highlight!<\/p>\n<p>After university, Becky and I moved to London. I qualified as a barrister, and Becky studied for a Master\u2019s.\u00a0 She is now working in Human Resources at Imperial College.\u00a0 We live on the city\u2019s outskirts, and are expecting to be joined by a healthy bundle of joy in a few weeks!<\/p>\n<p>If it weren\u2019t for Cardiff University, we may never have met, although we have since discovered we holidayed in the same campsites during holidays of our childhood.
