Cardiff Univer\"Neilsity alumna Lisa Young (BSc 1996) is at the centre of restoration work to preserve Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit for The Smithsonian.<\/p>\n

The world’s largest museum is currently collaborating on several projects with\u00a0Kickstarter, the\u00a0crowd-funding platform, to support the conservation of the legendary astronaut’s Apollo 11 spacesuit at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) in Washington, D.C. The campaign, launched this week, coincides with the 46th anniversary of the first walk on the moon.<\/p>\n

Lisa said:\u00a0 \u201cI am honoured to be able to contribute the skills gained through conservation training at the University, and am pleased that the funding was awarded to take the next steps to preserve this national icon.”<\/p>\n

All of the money raised will go to conserving, digitising and displaying the spacesuit – work that will take about three years to complete.<\/p>\n
