Inclusive pedagogy is iterative, reflective and change oriented. It asks us not only to support individual students but to question the systems and habits that shape their experience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Across higher education, conversations about inclusion are increasingly rooted in ideas of equity and social justice. This means recognising that our learning environments do not exist in a vacuum, they reflect wider social structures that advantage some students and\u00a0marginalise others. Inclusive pedagogy, therefore, is not simply about offering support; it is about intentionally designing learning that disrupts inequity and broadens opportunities for meaningful participation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For colleagues at Cardiff\u00a0University, much of this thinking connects to the<\/span>\u00a0Inclusive\u00a0Mindsets\u00a0<\/span><\/i>work explored in Cardiff\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Education Development Toolkit<\/span><\/a>, which invites us to reflect on diversity,\u00a0inequality\u00a0and privilege, and to recognise our role in shaping more\u00a0equitable\u00a0learning experiences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Inclusive pedagogy starts with a simple but powerful question: Who is this learning designed for – and who might it unintentionally exclude?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Practically, inclusive pedagogy involves making design decisions that\u00a0anticipate\u00a0difference and reduce structural barriers. This can mean:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
