Green Impact\u00a0is a sustainability\u00a0learning and accreditation\u00a0programme for Schools,\u00a0departments\u00a0and teams at Cardiff University.\u00a0Participants\u00a0use an online toolkit, designed by the University\u2019s sustainability team,\u00a0to\u00a0complete\u00a0activities\u00a0and drive positive sustainable change\u00a0in a\u00a0range\u00a0of\u00a0areas such as\u00a0waste and recycling\u00a0and biodiversity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In 2025,\u00a0staff from the Learning and Teaching Academy\u00a0formed a Green Impact\u00a0team\u00a0and were supported\u00a0in their endeavours\u00a0by a student\u00a0Green Impact Project Assistant.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The team proudly achieved a bronze award and were awarded the Special Award for Innovation for Engagement\u00a0at Cardiff University.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this,\u00a0the team\u00a0were\u00a0recently\u00a0told\u00a0that they had won the National Green Impact Award for\u00a0Innovation for Engagement!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Below, some of the team members reflect on their experiences of taking part in Green Impact:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>When\u00a0Green Impact\u00a0was relaunched at Cardiff University last year,\u00a0I was keen to\u00a0participate\u00a0in\u00a0the programme\u00a0for the first time. As someone who is\u00a0very interested\u00a0in the environment and sustainability, it\u00a0was\u00a0a great opportunity\u00a0to\u00a0work with like-minded\u00a0team members, both staff and student,\u00a0and\u00a0take action\u00a0to help\u00a0improve the sustainability of the University\u00a0by\u00a0completing\u00a0a variety of\u00a0activities.\u00a0These activities\u00a0often involved collaborating with colleagues in my department\u00a0and across the wider University, who I may not usually have the chance to work with.\u00a0The Learning and Teaching Academy\u2019s Wellbeing Working Group, for example,\u00a0helped to promote activities, which all\u00a0members of\u00a0department\u00a0staff could\u00a0take part in, and we organised and ran litter picks\u00a0together, which proved to be very popular!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>One of my proudest achievements from Green Impact is\u00a0an\u00a0online escape room\u00a0for staff, which my team members and I\u00a0designed,\u00a0developed\u00a0and\u00a0created.\u00a0The escape room\u00a0is based\u00a0around\u00a0Cardiff\u00a0University\u00a0and focuses on\u00a0four\u00a0themes:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
