On-campus Internships (OCI) scheme<\/a> has been running since 2008. At its inception it\u00a0was called the Cardiff Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (CUROP) and had only 15 placement opportunities. Since 2008 the scheme has grown and now offers\u00a0around 150 placements per summer to undergraduate students. Overall, the scheme has enabled over 1850 students to undertake a placement opportunity, with a financial investment of over \u00a32m.<\/p>\nThe scheme<\/h3>\n
The scheme gives students valuable work experience, as well as the chance to sample\u00a0postgraduate research, enabling them to examine whether they should progress to\u00a0postgraduate study. For staff, the scheme provides an opportunity to receive valuable\u00a0additional resource to work on their research during the summer, and a chance to\u00a0have the student perspective feed into their projects.<\/p>\n
