Looking for graduate opportunities? Find out who’s recruiting at this year’s Summer Careers Fair

On Tuesday 7 June Cardiff University will be holding its last careers fair of this academic year. The Summer Careers Fair, held in City Hall runs  from 11:30am – 15:30pm.  The fair is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet over 50 student and graduate recruiters.

 

Although many employers are looking for students and graduates from all degree disciplines (a full list of employers can be found on the Intranet), there are many that are targeting specific courses.

 

Who’s attending and what degree disciplines are they targeting?

Below is a list of employers who are interested in students from certain degrees (a full list of all employers can be found on the Intranet). Knowing who companies are targeting means that you can use your time at the fair more effectively. This list isn’t exhaustive, and in the next few weeks the full list of employers will be increasing, so don’t worry if there aren’t any employers that suit you!

 

Capgemini is a management consulting corporation. It is one of the largest consulting, technology and outsourcing companies. At the fair they will be looking for:

  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Engineering

 

CDM Media is a leading marketing and media firm specialising in C-level engagement with worldwide brands. They have said they will be targeting:

  • Business
  • English, Communication & Philosophy

 

Kautex Textron Ltd is one of the top 100 automotive suppliers worldwide. They will be looking for students from these disciplines:

  • Business
  • Law & Politics
  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Engineering
  • Maths

 

Majestic Wine is the UK’s largest specialist retailer of wine. The group’s operating companies include:

  • Majestic Wine Warehouses Ltd, the main UK retail operation
  • Lay & Wheeler, a fine wine and  en primuer specialist
  • Les Celliers de Calais (trading as Majestic Wine Calais) with two stores in northern France.

They will be targeting:

  • Business students

 

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is the British Government Department responsible for implementing the defence policy set by Her Majesty’s Government and is the headquarters of the British Armed Forces. They have said that they will be targeting students from the following degree discipline:

  • Computer Science & Informatics

 

MotoNovo Finance is a provider of a range of financial services through motor dealers across the UK, with their speciality being Motor Finance. They will be looking for students from the following degree discipline:

  • Business 

 

National Autistic Society Cymru works throughout Wales with people living with autism. They provide personalised support services for people on the autism spectrum, as well as for their families and carers. They will be targeting students from the following courses:

  • Social Sciences
  • Healthcare Sciences
  • Psychology

 

Old Mill Accountants & Financial Planners – life enhancing Tax, Accountancy and Financial Planning.

They will be looking for students from these disciplines:

  • Business
  • Mathematics

 

The Royal Navy offers a variety of roles for graduates. At the moment they have roles that would suit graduates from the following degree disciplines:

  • Dentistry
  • Healthcare Sciences
  • Medicine
  • Engineering

 

Sony UK TechnologyManufacturing Centre of Excellence. They will be exhibiting at the Summer Careers Fair and targeting the following degree disciplines:

  • Business
  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Engineering

 

ToumetisWorld Class Engineers building apps for world class businesses. Including: Goldman Sachs, Yodlee, Time Warner.

At the fair they will be looking for:

  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics

 

TPP (The Phoenix Partnership) helps to deliver world class healthcare software, helping to improve access to clinical data. They have said that they will be targeting students from the following degrees:

  • Biosciences
  • Healthcare Sciences
  • Medicine
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Engineering
  • Maths
  • Physics & Astronomy

 

UKHO (UK Hydrographic Office) helps to produce nautical publications and services for the Royal Navy and merchant shipping. They have said they will be targeting students studying the following degrees:

  • Business
  • Planning & Geography
  • Computer Science & Informatics
  • Earth and Ocean Sciences

 

Zodiac Seats UK is the world’s leading specialist in passenger seats for economy, business and first class. Its products are designed for airlines and aircraft carriers. At the Summer Fair they will be targeting specifically:

  • Engineering

 

If any of these companies sounds interesting to you make sure you do some research before you arrive at the fair! Having good knowledge about what companies are offering is a great way to create a good first impression!
