An Insight into a Career in International Relations

The Careers & Employability Team are excited to be involved in a series of exclusive guest lectures. 



Speaker John Hemmings, Doctoral Candidate – Department of International Relations London School of Economics, and host Professor Peter Sutch, invite you to join them on Thursday 23 October, 12.30 – 1.30pm, Council Chamber, Main Building.

What to expect

An exclusive event for current Cardiff University students, renowned Cardiff alumnus John Hemmings will speak about his exciting career in International Relations. John has attended policy dinners with leading foreign affairs and security experts and provided specialist commentary to the world media on political issues in Asia such as tensions in North Korea.

John holds an MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College, London and a BA  in Philosophy and the History of Ideas from Cardiff University.

John is a regular contributor to several news outlets including BBC News, CNN, Al Jazeera and the Observer. He was one of the experts at this year’s TEDxCardiff where he spoke about Conflict, History and Identity.

As part of this exclusive talk to Cardiff students, John will provide advice and tips on a career in international relations, including how to apply for internships and jobs in the industry. There will be a Q & A session at the end of the talk providing students the opportunity to pose questions to this extremely successful Cardiff alumnus.
