An insight into a Career in Communications

The Careers & Employability Team are excited to be involved in a series of exclusive guest lectures. 


Speaker Alex Aiken, Executive Director of Government Communications and host Professor Richard Sambrook, Head of School of Journalism, invite you to join them on Tuesday 4 November, 10 – 11am, Committee Rooms 1&2, Glamorgan Building. 


What to expect
Alex Aiken, The Executive Director of Government Communications, based in Downing Street and the Cabinet Office is coming to Cardiff University to talk about his role.  He is the most senior communications professional in the Civil Service; don’t miss the opportunity to hear his insights into leading party campaigns, running press offices and training politicians & officials worldwide in communication techniques.

On top of his fascinating career, Alex Aiken will also discuss the role of the civil service (specifically government communications strategy), it’s reform programme, changes they’ve seen over past four years, challenges facing the UK and current policy/ media issues.

There will be a Q & A hosted by Prof Richard Sambrook, so bring relevant questions with you to utilise the incredible opportunity of having this leader of communications on campus.

At 11 there will be networking with refreshments and an opportunity for students to speak to Civil Service Fast Stream representatives about their grad scheme opportunities.
