Why did you choose to study a postgraduate degree at Cardiff University?
I chose to come to Cardiff for a few reasons. Firstly, the school of journalism is one of the best and the MA Global Communications Management and International Public Relations course stood out to me and felt like the right pick. Secondly, Cardiff is a beautiful city that is very diverse and that is something I am always looking for when I choose where to study.
How was your experience as a postgraduate at Cardiff University, in terms of the programme?
The course has been a very intense and requires a lot discipline. The modules are spread out in a way that push you to think outside the box and there is no room for mediocre work when it comes to postgraduate school.
I believe that my programme has pushed me to think outside the box both theoretically and practically. Aside from academically, this course has helped me with my personal development and I have gained invaluable skills.
How was your experience of living in Cardiff, in terms of the city, social life and accomadation, again specifically as a PG?
I’ve loved living in Cardiff and I have managed to explore the city. As a post graduate student I believe that my time in Cardiff has been great and I have experienced different events that are not the typical university student life. I believe that as a post graduate student you tend to visit a lot of areas and involve yourself a lot in activities that you wouldn’t have as an undergraduate student. There are so many opportunities within the city and places to explore and the university itself as a lot of activities that are available for students.
What was different about your postgraduate experience at Cardiff University compared to your previous degree?
Personally, I feel more mature as a postgraduate student at Cardiff University, and this has also been evident in the way that I have done my work. The lecturers at Cardiff University encourage students to take lead of their own academic life and this has helped me become more self-aware and has pushed me to want to explore more of the opportunities that are always present. My postgraduate experience has definitely given me the confidence to strive for more and become the best version of myself.
How did you fund your postgraduate degree?
I was lucky enough to have a supportive mother who funded my postgraduate degree.
How do you think that your postgraduate degree is helping prepare you for the future – job aspirations, career development, future study, etc?
In the communication and PR world you need to be a go getter and be very aware of the different opportunities that are around you. I believe that my postgraduate degree has enabled me to do just that. The skills and confidence that I have gained from being part of this program are essential and I have no doubt that I will reach and surpass my goals.
