Arecibo Stories

Arecibo Stories brings together memories of the Arecibo Telescope from those who used it. The telescope sadly collapsed in December 2020, but part of it will live on through the stories that we tell.

This game works best on a computer (not a tablet or mobile device), and may not be compatible with some older browsers. You can visit the simmer.io site to have the option of viewing fullscreen.

This project was funded by the Institute of Physics Wales and Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy. It was developed by Dr Mat Allen, based on 3D models by Dr Rhys Taylor. Commentary is from Dr Sarah Roberts, Dr Matt Smith and Dr Rhys Taylor.

You can listen Rhys Taylor discuss Arecibo in the Nov 2020 episode of Pythagorean Astronomy, recorded shortly before the telescope collapsed.
