European Researchers Night

5 November 2020

As 2020 rolls on and we enter into November, the MAGMA group is happy to announce we will be involved in European Researchers Night taking place on 27th November 2020.

This the first time that this event is taking place in Wales and the theme is ‘Researchers Making a Difference’ or ‘ADIFF‘ for short. Events are happening all month culminating in the night on the 27th.

The activities include:

-Ask Me Anything. Researchers will give a short video talk on their research via social media. They will then invite some follow up questions to answer.

-Family zoom quiz. Taking place on 27th November, there will be a fun quiz with questions coming from researchers across many disciplines.

-Why? Anyone with children will probably be used to hearing this. Well now is the chance to get an expert to answer your question. There is a template poster on the ADIFF website to decorate and send to @Adiff_Cymru on Twitter or /Adiff_Cymru on facebook. We have already answered the question ‘What is magnetism?’ on our twitter account.

-Treasure Trail. An online treasure trail based on locations all over Wales aimed at over 10s. Participants will need to solve clues using google maps until they get to the final clue. Entry for this can be found here.

-Science Busking. Taking place 28th November this online session will have researchers doing fun live demonstrations.

-Research Bake Off. Researchers are using their culinary skills to demonstrate what they are researching.

The list above is not exhaustive, there is plenty more going on all month. Full details can be found here. We are very excited to be involved.
