I know a lot of people who are cynical about New Years Resolutions, with good reason. It’s usually just promising unrealistic things which are forgotten about by the second week of January, and I’ll freely admit that I’m guilty of that… But there’s something about having a whole fresh year to do things with that attracts me every time – I can’t resist making a few resolutions each year, and this time I’m sharing them with you all so I really do try to keep them!
1. Climb Mount Snowdon
Ever since I became a student in Wales I’ve wanted to climb Snowdon. It’s one of those things that I’ve been promising to do for years now! I’d really like to travel up and climb it on my 21st birthday this year so we’ll see 🙂
2. Budget properly
Ah, the forever curse of the student – bad budgeting. I admit that living far too close to a Tesco’s has broken me and I haven’t shopped in Lidl since 2nd year – whoops. I just need to start planning my meals and actually doing some budgeting and money saving becomes a lot easier!
3. Use my gym membership a bit more than ‘occasionally’
Here’s a secret. I have a gym membership.
The bit that’s not a secret – I basically never go to the gym. Whoops.
I’m not going to resolve to loose 100lbs or something but if I occasionally made it into my trainers and onto a treadmill I think I’d be doing myself a favour…
4. Make time to read
I LOVE reading, but I always seem to end up on 4od instead of just chilling with a book. I’ve started an account with GoodReads to track all the books I want to read this year… here are some of my first selections
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
- The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide
- The rest of Game of Thrones! (1 book down, hundreds to go…) by George R. R. Martin
- All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
5. Keep in touch with the Diff
You may remember my post from a few months ago about the Cardiff Secret Street Food trip. Well, I figured that I should really keep an ear out for more things like that! Cardiff is such a cool place but I’ve never made an effort to experience it as a visitor. Plus I’m determined to use my free entry to Cardiff Castle…! (Residents privilege!)
As far as resolutions go I reckon these are 5 very reasonable ones which should lead to some exciting adventures this year!
I hope you all had a great new year – I’ll be back again later in Jan with an update on my Calc resit (sad face) and any other January adventures 😀
