This year’s SEESHOP was held in Waterloo, Ontario from 9 to 12 June. Like SEESHOP 7, it was co-located with the annual meetings of SRPoiSE and the STIR Project. A full programme is available from the Communities of Integration website.
The SEESHOP programme was one of the best we have had and contained a wide variety of papers that focussing on different aspects of expertise and experience. As with the Local Organisers’ meeting in Budapest it was great to see new faces and old friends and, in particular, to see the way in which Imitation Game research is being taken up and used. A full list of speakers and titles is available here .
We must also thank Katie Plaisance and Eric Kennedy for their hard work in organising the joint conference. The combination of plenary and breakout sessions worked very well and struck a good balance between specialist sessions and building a more broadly based community.
Looking forward, we agreed there will be individual meetings of SRPosSE, SEE and STIR in 2015, with the next joint ‘Communities of Integration’ event now scheduled for 2016. The reason for this is that alternating between individual and joint conferences allows participants with more than one affiliation to follow both programmes. This means that SEESHOP9 will be held in Cardiff in early June 2015.
