Welcome to The Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre

The Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre is located on the 3rd Floor of the Cochrane Building, on the Heath Park Campus. This state-of the-art facility is equipped with realistic, anatomically correct models to assist in the teaching and practise of a wide range of procedural clinical skills. Sessions are delivered in a relaxed and student centred approach to learning. Small groups of students are led by experienced tutors from a multi disciplinary backgound and formatively assessed following the practical element of the session.

Students are required to access on line e-learning modules prior to attending timetables clinical skills teaching. These attractive, easy to follow modules provide key theoretical components of the clinical procedure, prior to attending the practical session. The e-learning modules are found within the Online Tutorials section of this module. Tutor supported skills sessions are sometimes available.

These sessions are particularly useful to students approaching exams, or for those who may require a little more time to practise a skill, before attempting a supervised procedure in the Clinical setting. The self booking system for tutor supported sessions is within the Learning Central ‘Clinical Skills’ module, under ‘Revision Sessions’. Dates will be posted nearer exam time.

Self Directed Learning Area.

The Self Directed Learning area is now available in the Clinical Skills Centre. This area is useful for the practise of skills after you have attended timetabled sessions, or before exams. It is available 09.30 – 16.00hrs Monday -Friday. Occasionally, we may have to close for assessments or if we are short staffed, but will endeavour to let you know (via the announcement page) if this is the case).
