UpToDate

uptodate01Cardiff University have begun a 1 year subscription to the point of care tool – UpToDate.

Thanks to all those who used the point of care tools during the trial period and provided us with feedback.  We would still welcome feedback throughout this year on use of the product.

There is a quick start guide if needed and the Library is planning to run training sessions in the new academic year.

You can also access UpToDate from smart devices (remember these need to be registered on the network first), then click on the link for UpToDate,  you will then get a mobile optimised version which can be used on smart devices and has an “app” look and feel.

Point of Care Tools Trial

From the 1st Feb we will have trial access to 4 Point of Care Tools. As well as finding them useful we hope that you will help us in assessing whether we should purchase one and which one it should be.

Please take a look and use each of them freely. All can be accessed using the links below, on and off campus using your Cardiff University username and password.

Point of care information products are marketed as providing up to date information for diagnosis and treatment decisions.  They also include information for patients.

We would value your help in evaluating these resources to feed into decision making as to whether we make a University purchase of one of these tools.

Please would you bear in mind when answering our questions

  1. ease of use
  2. quality of information in the resource
  3. comparison with other tools you have used (Cochrane/ NICE etc)

We are currently mainly considering the use of these tools for educational purposes and how it may fit into C21, so we would like you to bear that in mind when assessing the tools.

Feedback via Bristol Online Survey here or alternatively fill in a Point of Care Tools Trial form and return it to healthlibrary@cf.ac.uk
