We advocate early intervention based on ongoing research results and have recently developed a briefing document for physiotherapists working with people with Huntington’s Disease.. This is endorsed by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Neurology and the Huntington’s Disease Association of England and Wales.
Cardiff researchers work closely with the European Huntington’s Disease Network (EHDN) Physiotherapy Working Group, an international network of physiotherapists working in a variety of settings with People with Huntington’s Disease. The group was established by Lori Quinn and Monica Busse, with the support of EHDN, in 2008. The original EHDN physiotherapy guidance document was produced in 2009 with the updated Clinical Guidelines following in 2012.
More recently, the group developed Physiotherapy Tips and are now working on a learning resource for HD families and carers.
You can access many of these documents here.
