Team Tuesdays- Meet Tony, Digital Education Manager

Tony Lancaster, Digital Education Manager

Name: Tony Lancaster

Role at the University: Digital Education Manager

What is your role in the Digital Education Programme?
Until recently I jointly lead the Programme focusing predominantly on the business change strategy. I have since been appointed as the Digital Education Manager

Why did you want to be part of the Dig Ed Programme?
I have a lot of experience of managing change around digital education, notably leading on the Learn Plus project that provided video capture for online and blended learning. I also have experience of developing and supporting collaboration platforms and tools. At the start of lockdown, I was asked to help support the pivot to online learning, and things quickly progressed from there to Dig Ed Manager!

What do you enjoy most about being part of the programme?
So many things, but mainly working with such a diverse group of highly experienced and skilful people that I learn from every day, many of whom are personal friends. I am also an advocate for agile working, and for this programme there was literally no other way to deliver it in the time we had.

A fact about yourself?
As well as being a bit of a tech geek, I am also a keen amateur musician and play violin and piano among other things with strings. I also used to run an independent record label, and before that was a geophysicist! What can I say – I like to keep things interesting!

Rôl yn y Brifysgol: Rheolwr Addysg Ddigidol

Beth yw eich rôl yn y Rhaglen Addysg Ddigidol?
Tan yn ddiweddar, roeddwn yn arwain y Rhaglen ar y cyd gan ganolbwyntio’n bennaf ar y strategaeth newid busnes. Ers hynny, rwyf wedi cael fy mhenodi’n Rheolwr Addysg Ddigidol

Pam oeddech chi am fod yn rhan o’r Rhaglen Addysg Ddigidol?
Mae gen i lawer o brofiad o reoli newid o amgylch addysg ddigidol, gan arwain ar y prosiect Learn Plus a ddarparodd ffilmio fideo ar gyfer dysgu ar-lein a chyfunol. Mae gen i brofiad hefyd o ddatblygu a chefnogi llwyfannau ac offer cydweithredu. Ar ddechrau”r cyfnod bod dan gyfyngiadau, gofynnwyd imi helpu i gefnogi’r newid i ddysgu ar-lein, ac aeth pethau ymlaen yn gyflym oddi yno i Reolwr Addysg Ddigidol!

Beth ydych chi’n ei fwynhau fwyaf am fod yn rhan o’r rhaglen?
Cymaint o bethau, ond yn bennaf yn gweithio gyda grŵp mor amrywiol o bobl hynod brofiadol a medrus yr wyf yn dysgu ohonynt bob dydd, y mae llawer ohonynt yn ffrindiau personol. Rwyf hefyd yn cefnogi gweithio ystwyth, ac yn llythrennol nid oedd unrhyw ffordd arall i’w gyflawni yn yr amser a gawsom yn ystod y cyfnod o gyfyngiadau.

Ffaith amdanoch chi’ch hun?
Yn ogystal â bod yn dipyn o geek technoleg, rydw i hefyd yn gerddor amatur brwd ac yn chwarae ffidil a phiano ymhlith pethau eraill gyda llinynnau. Roeddwn i hefyd yn arfer rhedeg label recordio annibynnol, a chyn hynny roeddwn yn geoffisegydd! Beth alla i ddweud – dwi’n hoffi cadw pethau’n ddiddorol!
